After visiting Puerto Morelos you may want to become one of the regulars or extend your stay. Puerto is filled with like-minded visitors and snowbirds returning with their families for their annual vacation. Many find renting a private home is the best kind of accommodation for extended stays. Since Puerto Morelos is more residential than commercial there are a number of private homes and apartments to rent. The northern section of town has a number of homeowners who have been returning to their adopted hometown for 15 to 20 years and have added guesthouses to their properties that they rent out during the winter season. As well, there are a number of foreign owners who have been doing some early planning for their retirement by building their dream home in Puerto Morelos. Since they are still paying for their homes they don’t have the free time to pass the winter in Puerto and to cover their costs rent out their homes and apartments during the tourist season. 

There is something to suite everyone’s budget from luxury haciendas style estates to simple two bedroom homes to small bachelor apartments. Most are not on the beachfront but will be five minutes walking distance from the water. Before renting make sure the terms and conditions of the house are clear.
